Practice Range

Our range is woefully small.  We all know this and try to do everything we can to grow replacement turf as quickly as possible.  With this in mind, just a quick reminder about our practice tee 'mats versus grass' schedule.  Mondays and Thursdays, the practice tee hits off the mats. The rest of the week you should hit from in between the painted lines

One request I need to make is for your help in stopping the hitting from grass when the tee is mats-only, and, the sneaking off to a thicker area if the grass is thin between the hit lines.  If you see a guest or reciprocal player who may not know the rules, please mention it to them and steer them in the right direction.

The damage done, on almost a daily basis from this behavior, ruins the thick parts of the tee that we're moving to next. When we do get there after two weeks, there's not much left.
Obviously, this can't continue.  We just don't have the teeing space to absorb that kind of damage.  Again, please avoid doing this, and help with stopping it if you see a guest doing it.

If it continues, I'll have no choice but to place a 'deterrent' over the grass while we're trying to grow it in.  This is a gigantic waste of time for me and I'd hate to have to resort to it for just a few people who may not know that what they're doing has such adverse effects.
The above shots are of the divots caused be people cheating off the mats and hit lines.  You can see that by the time the hit lines reach the back of the tee, the back of the tee will already be used up.
Our practice tee is tiny.  It takes two weeks to fully grow a new stand of usable grass in place of worn out areas - longer if people continue to use the parts of the tee they know are closed.
It's not nearly big enough for the use it gets, which is all the more reason to hit balls from the right spot. Cheating onto the good grass is just taking more good turf away from members that agree to hit from where they're supposed to hit from.  Some self-policing is in order.  Thanks for your cooperation.
